Indkapsling/beskyttelse

(IP-klasser) 

The right enclosure class is a prerequisite for an electric motor to work safely for a long period of time in tough loads and harsh environments. The enclosure class is specified according to SS-EN 60034-5: 2000 with the designation IP (International Protection) followed by two digits, for example IP 54.

See below for the meaning of the numbers.

The first number - protection against touch and intrusion of objects

0
No special protection against involuntary or inadvertent contact with live or moving parts. No protection against intrusion of solid foreign objects.

Protection from a large part of the body such as a hand (but no protection from deliberate access); from solid objects greater than 50 mm in diameter.

Protection against fingers or other smaller objects (not greater than 12 mm in diameter).

Protection against solid objects larger than 1mm (wires, nails, screws, larger insects and other potentially invasive small objects such as tools/small etc).

Partial protection against dust that may harm equipment.

Totally dust tight. Full protection against dust and other particulates,

The second number - protection against water

0
No protection.

Vertically falling water droplets must not cause harmful effects.

Water droplets falling within an angle of 15 degrees from the vertical must not cause harmful effects.

Water splashing from above and at an angle of 60 degrees from the vertical must not cause harmful effects.

Water splashes from all directions must not cause harmful effects.

Water spouting of low pressure from all directions must not cause harmful effects.

Water from high seas must not enter the machine in harmful amounts.

Water must not enter the machine in harmful amounts when it is fully immersed in water under a certain amount of pressure and for a limited time.

Water must not enter the machine in harmful amounts when it is fully immersed under specified pressure and for an indefinite period of time.

Standard enclosure for BEVI's electric motors 

BEVI's electric motors are normally in IP55 design, but can be delivered in most other designs on request.
